Frequently Asked Questions Insurance

What if the employing office expectation of an employees’ hours in pay status plus qualifying leave without pay hours changes during the course of the individual’s employment?

If the expectation changes and the employee is expected to work for 90 days or more, the employing office must notify the individual that he or she is eligible to enroll.  The effective date of coverage should be no later than the 91st day after the first day of employment. In most cases, this will be a prospective change and will never be retroactive to the first day of employment.
