Overview

The Western Management Development Center (WMDC) Is a division of OPM’s Center for Leadership Development that provides custom leadership programs and executive and leadership coaching services for agencies. With more than 50 years of experience in leadership development, we have seen almost every challenge faced by federal agencies, as well as their executives and managers.

We work with your organization to assess leadership training needs for specific agency competencies and design programs to address those concerns. Our solutions include:

Succession planning

Federal leaders have identified succession planning as a critical mission for Government agencies, since officials expect to lose as much as 60 percent of the federal workforce to retirement over the next two decades.

To address this looming challenge, Congress mandated Government succession planning and required agencies to establish comprehensive succession management programs to develop the next generation of supervisors, managers, and executives.
